Camp Meeting 2020 Season is CANCELLED
May 22th, 2020
Dear Mooers Camp Family,
After much thought, prayer, and discussion it is with great sadness that the 2020 Mooers Camp Meeting will be canceled. We will all miss the spiritual experience that affects each and every one of our lives. I believe that this is the first time that camp has been canceled since it opened in 1903. One hundred and seventeen years the biblical truth has been proclaimed from the grounds of Old Mooers Camp!
At this time, children’s camps have been canceled in some regions of NY and under consideration in the rest of the regions. We have not been granted permission to open by the state, and do not know when or if we will. We are concerned about the health and safety of our campers and our members. As of right now, the current guidelines for preventing transmission of the disease have made the possibility of camp meeting this year exceedingly difficult, if not impossible. We will monitor the progression of the requirements of children camps and plan ahead for changes that may need to occur before 2021 camp meeting.
We are still looking forward to holding a fall retreat. We ask for your prayers that the situation will look differently by the end summer and we can plan a joyful reunion and retreat together.
Cottage owners can use their camps. However, camp owned facilities including the restrooms will remain closed. Face masks and social distancing still must be followed. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them from the Department of Health on these measures.
I understand the disappointment we are all feeling, but remember God is in control! His name be praised!
Campground Opening May 15th
May 12th, 2020
We have confirmation from the Health Department that Mooers Camp Meeting Association will be able to open for use of privately owned cottages and lots – and we will be opening on Friday, May 15th.
Please Note: Only members with privately owned cottages and/or lots on the campground will be able to stay on the grounds. All areas of public access will be closed (including bathrooms).
Although camp is opened, we still need to follow the DOH & CDC guidelines including (but not limited to):
Face mask is required if you leave your camp/lot
No congregation of groups
Please maintain social distancing outside of your camp/lot
Please use good hand-washing practices
We will continue to provide updates as they occur!
Have a great day!
Spring Work Day
The spread of COVID-19 has caused us to CANCEL this year's organized Spring Work Day.
We encourage all to come to the grounds at any time to pick up and rake. We will not be having an organized Saturday like we typically do with lunch and such.
We do please ask that you go when you can to clean the grounds and prepare for camp to open! Water will be on after May 1st for bathroom use.
We encourage you to go in groups of no more than 10 at a time, as suggested by the Health Department.
God is in control!
